Before any work starts, get the facts about your current certificate.

Locate your current certificate and note the exact expiry date
Confirm with your certification body when your next surveillance or recertification audit falls
Ask your certification body how they want the transition handled and what they need from you
Confirm which standards are in scope (quality, environmental, or both)
Identify who owns the management system internally and who will run this project

2Phase 2 — Gap assessment

Work out what actually has to change. For most organisations this is less than expected.

Change what needs changing — and resist rewriting what doesn't.

An auditor will ask your people, not just your documents.

Audit yourself before someone else does.
